Privacy notice
What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed. In plain English, because you should not need a solicitor to read it.
Who we are
This site is run by the Greystokes Foundation, which is the data controller for the information described here. The Foundation is in the process of being registered; until that is complete it operates as an unincorporated body, and this notice will be updated with its registration details as soon as they exist.
For anything to do with your data, write to info@england927.com.
What we collect
If you join the newsletter, we store the name and email address you give us, and your postcode if you choose to add one. The postcode is optional and is used only to show roughly where support is coming from, and to tell you about anything happening near you.
Alongside that, our server records the IP address and browser user agent of the device used to sign up, the page the sign-up came from, and the date and time. We also store the exact wording of the consent you agreed to.
We do not use cookies, we do not run advertising or tracking scripts, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Why we collect it
Your name, email and postcode are used to send you occasional updates about the campaign, and nothing else. The lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the sign-up form. You can withdraw it at any time and we will delete your details.
The IP address and user agent are kept for a different reason: they let us spot and block automated abuse of the form. The lawful basis for those two is our legitimate interest in keeping the site working. They are never used to identify or contact you.
Where it is kept, and who sees it
Everything is stored on this website's own hosting in the United Kingdom, in a file that cannot be reached from the web. It is not sent to any mailing platform, advertising network, analytics service or other third party. Nobody outside the Foundation has access to it.
If we later move the list to an email platform to send newsletters, this notice will be updated to name that provider before any data is transferred.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up details until you ask us to remove them, or until the campaign ends, whichever comes first. The anniversary falls on the 12th of July 2027; if the campaign closes after that, the list is deleted within three months.
The IP address and user agent are kept for 12 months and then removed.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your details entirely;
- stop using them, or restrict what we do with them;
- withdraw your consent, which you can do at any time.
Email info@england927.com and we will action it, normally within a few days and always within one month. There is nothing to pay and you do not have to give a reason.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the newsletter rather than quietly editing the page.
